If you want to surf the internet anonymously or you want to access a website that locks access from your country, you can use a proxy or sock proxy to fake your IP address. You can find many free proxies on the internet but they only live a short time about a few hours before they die. Then you have to find another live proxy to use. There is an easy way to create a private proxy to use yourself. And I am going to tell you that interesting tip in this post. So how to create a private sock proxy to surf the internet anonymously? The answer’s right below.
To create a private sock proxy I use Tunnelier. Tunnelier is a fast SSH client for Windows and it’s free. See more about Tunnelier here. To create a private sock proxy you have to satisfy two conditions below:
1. Have a web hosting account that support SSH and have SSH enabled on that account (you can use Google to find a free one).
2. Have Tunnelier installed on your PC

Now, run Tunnelier on your PC and choose the Login tab. In the Server section, type in your host FTP address (for example, mysock.myhost.com) and SSH port (usually at port 22). In the Authentication section, type your web hosting FTP account username and password. Choose password for the Initial method and check the Store encrypted password in profile. Make sure you have done everything correctly, then select Services tab.
In the Services tab, check Enable in the Socks/HTTP Proxy Forwarding section and type values for other fields as below:
Listen Interface: 127.0.0.1 (your sock address)
Listen port : 1080 (your sock port)
Server Bind Interface: 0.0.0.0

You can change the listen port to any valid sock port you like but I think it’s better to leave it as 1080. Finally, select Login button to login. Now you have a private sock proxy (IP: 127.0.0.1, port: 1080) to surf the internet anonymously. When you don’t want to use it, just logout and exit Tunnilier.
